Arbitron's latest data says that the amount of "Country" music being broadcast has nearly doubled in the last year, from 13 percent in 2006 to 24 percent in 2007. All the other major categories are down, R&B (including Hip-Hop) from 49 percent to 44 percent, Pop from 26 percent to 23 percent, and Rock from 12 percent to 9 percent. Why is country music flooding the airways? Any ideas? What does this say about our culture in America?
