Eastern University offers an MA in Urban Studies that is designed for Christians interested in community development, the arts in community, youth work or urban ministry. It is designed so that people in full-time employment and located anywhere can complete an accredited graduate degree in two years.
If you would like more information about this program there are live, online information sessions planned for Tuesday, May 25, and Tuesday, June 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. EST. To RSVP and get the dedicated web access for one of these sessions, Email urbanstudies@eastern.edu or phone (215) 769-3121.
This program requires classroom time on Sabbath, right ... 10 3-day weekends per year or something? I've been looking for a course of study I can do online or via low-residency that doesn't conflict with my spiritual convictions.

The schedule is for a week of intensives each fall and spring, two weeks per year. Students are encouraged to attend church on Saturdays and Sundays. There are mission trips and fellowship in the afternoon, not regular classes. In addition, some of the classes are taught on a weekly schedule via live web conferencing. For example, the course I teach on Community Organizing meets via web conferencing on Thursday evenings. You would not be able to find any program that teaches ministry skills which is entirely delivered over the Internet; there are some practical skills that require face-to-face interaction the old-fashioned way. You might find an urban studies program that is just theory based which is taught entirely on the Internet, but my guess is that it would be a secular university.

That sounds great! I had contacted Eastern about a month ago and never heard about this option. Thanks.
